Web-Based Designed Activities for Young People in Health Education: A Constructivist Approach
Goldman, Juliette D. G.
Health Education Journal, v65 n1 p14-27 2006
Modern Health Education in primary schools is increasingly using computer technologies in a variety of ways to enhance teaching and learning. Here, a Constructivist approach for a web-based educational activity for Grade 7 is discussed using an example of designing a healthy Food Handling Manual in the food industry. The Constructivist principles and their applications provide a useful set of underlying theoretical principles that focus and enhance the characteristics of the planning and the pedagogies for learning. Those identified here may be useful for Health educators designing web-based pedagogies to enhance good practice. (Contains 4 online resources and 5 resources.)
