This document is one in a series which may be used in establishing a two year post secondary wastewater technology training program. The workbook provides the objectives of instruction; a means of standardizing instruction and evaluation; and approaches to instruction to maximize trainee involvement and retention. The guidelines are designed to provide practical, hands-on skill and knowledge directly related to the operation and management of a wastewater treatment plant. Specific process areas covered are pre-chlorination, screening and guiding, grit removal, aeration, primary and secondary sedimentation and first and second stage digestion. Each process covers such areas as: start-up and shut-down, normal operation, preventive maintenance, abnormalities, normal sampling and related safety factors. (CS)
