Kellum, Mary
Competency-based teacher and student materials are provided for three units on safety skills as part of a diesel technology curriculum. The units cover the following topics: general safety; workplace safety; and first aid. The materials are based on the curriculum-alignment concept of first stating the objectives, then developing instructional strategies for teaching to those objectives, and finally, assessing to those same objectives. The teacher pages contain some or all of the following components: suggested activities, transparency masters, teacher supplements, answers to assignment sheets, written test, answers to written test, and unit evaluation form. Student pages include objective sheets, information sheets, student supplements, assignment sheets, and job sheets. Both teacher and student pages, as well as introductory pages, are included in the teacher edition. In addition to the general information such as the table of contents, foreword, and acknowledgments, the following information is included in the introductory pages: use of the publication; competency profile; instructional and task analysis; related academic and workplace skills list; and NATEF crosswalk, which identifies the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation tasks covered in the publication by unit number and job sheet number.
