Burrell, Lewis P.
A Pedagogical and Technological Survey Instrument (PTSI) was administered to determine whether an inservice training need existed for upgrading and modernization of vocational educators in the vocational pedagogical and technological service areas. The PTSI was mailed to 120 individuals with district program responsibilities; 83 responded. Collected data were used to report the extent and immediacy of the training needs. The top two pedagogical training needs were updating of teaching methods and technology in the classroom. The top two technological needs for each of the vocational service areas were new technology updating and chemical applications (agricultural education); microcomputer applications and desktop publishing (business education); new technology updating and nursing home care (health occupations education); new legislation and human relations, careers and families (home economics); computer-assisted design and manufacturing applications, computer-controlled equipment (high technology); computerized cashiering and banking, new technology updating (marketing education); on-the-job training, instructional strategies for the disadvantaged (occupational work experience); and electronic and computer repair, laboratory curriculum guide updating (trade and industrial).
