This report summarizes the proceedings of the second National Child Development Associate (CDA) Workshop conducted by University Research Corporation with the Administration for Children, Youth and Families (ACYF). The purpose of the workshop was to provide information and assistance to staff from Head Start grantees, educational institutions, and other organizations contracted to carry out CDA competency-based training programs. The central theme of the workshop related to ways of meeting the CDA training criterion for supervised field experience. Major addresses, presentations and panel discussions are included in the report in their entirety. These are: the keynote address by Dr. Lilian Katz on "Helping Others Learn to Teach"; an update on CDA by Dr. Jenni Klein, Director of Education Services, ACYF; a panel presentation on issues in CDA field training; an update on the CDA consortium; a brief description of videotape presentations of field training activities at two institutions; and a panel discussion on supervised field experiences. Also included, in the appendices, are a list of the conference participants and transcriptions of several question-answer sessions. (SS)
