This unit of instruction is one of a series of modules in the Missouri Auto Mechanics Curriculum Guide. The module's format was developed for competency-based teaching and testing. The module contains 11 units, each of which contains the following components: a competency profile, objective sheets, references, notes to the instructor, lesson plans, information sheets, assignment sheets, job sheets, and tests and answers. The units cover the following topics: (1) principles of automotive air conditioning; (2) automotive air conditioning system design; (3) automotive air conditioning system service; (4) servicing the automotive air conditioning system; (5) the automotive air conditioning compressor and compressor clutch; (6) repairing and replacing the evaporator, condenser, expansion tube, and receiver-drier; (7) the automotive heating system and engine cooling system; (8) repairing the automotive heating and engine cooling system; (9) electrical components of automotive air conditioning and heating systems; (10) diagnosing and repairing automotive heating and air conditioning control devices; and (11) diagnosing automatic and semiautomatic control systems.
