Examination of Teacher Opinions Regarding History Topics of 7th Grade Social Studies

With this study, it was aimed at drawing attention to the troubles and problems encountered by the teachers in the presence of various variables regarding the teaching of the history topics in the 7th grade social studies course. At the same time, in order to offer solution suggestions for teaching history topics effectively, we have tried to reach a conclusion by asking teachers' opinions in order to help to the teachers. A semi-structured interview method was used in this qualitative study. In the analysis of the data, descriptive analysis technique was used. When the findings obtained from the research are examined, it is concluded that the social studies curriculum has deficiencies in the teaching of history topics, that the history topics are disjointed, that the chronological order is not paid enough attention, and that there is no integrity between the topics, and the teaching hours of social studies are not sufficient. At the end, the research was concluded with the suggestions such as the history topics in the 7th grade social studies course should complement one another, should not wander off from one topic to another, and should be presented in a certain chronological order and form integrity.
