"I Think a Lot of Staff Are Dinosaurs": Further Education Trainee Teachers' Understandings of Pedagogic Relations.
Avis, James; Bathmaker, Ann-Marie; Parsons, John
Journal of Education and Work, v15 n2 p181-200 Jun 2002
Focus groups with 43 British preservice teachers preparing for the postcompulsory sector revealed their concerns about facilitating learning for "second-chance" students and some emancipatory and social justice ideals. However, they tended to express technicist ideas of teaching and constructions of "good" and "bad" students that contradicted these ideals. (Contains 46 references.) (SK)
