Engaging Educators: Bringing the World into the Classroom. Guidelines for Practice
Bond, Sheryl
Canadian Bureau for International Education
The third element in the Internationalization of the Curriculum series, "Engaging Educators" offers practical solutions to help faculty members internationalize their teaching practices. The purpose of these guidelines is to set out and share the full range of practices which were identified by faculty who participated in the Canadian Bureau for International Education (CBIE) study. The intent in identifying a range of choices is to: (1) help faculty who are already interested continue to develop international/intercultural content in their course; (2) invite a more inclusive approach to who is participating in this curriculum reform; and (3) encourage faculty who are already strapped for time to decide to take a few steps in this direction. Futhermore, the guidelines may help inform Deans and senior administrative officers of post-secondary institutions who, by virtue of the positions they hold, have the responsibility to ensure faculty are encouraged and supported in their effort to make a contribution to overall success of the institution.
