Report: States See Test-Score Gains
Viadero, Debra
Education Week, v24 n8 p1, 16 Oct 2004
This article discusses a report from Education Trust, a Washington-based research and advocacy group. The report says almost half the states have seen rising math scores on their state exams for elementary school pupils since the federal No Child Left Behind law was enacted. It also states that reading scores have improved among 4th and 5th graders in 15 of the 23 states studied. In addition, achievement gaps between minority and white students have begun to shrink in a number of them.
