American Counseling Association
In this book, practicing school counselors have provided more than 60 classroom guidance activities that are presented across the three major ASCA areas in the National Standards for Students: Academic Skills, Personal/Social Skills, and Career Development/College Preparation. Activities are designed to integrate the ASCA Model, Response to Intervention (RTI), and the SocialEmotional Learning Standards, as well as to lay the groundwork for more intensive interventions, such as small group and individual interventions. Each activity clearly describes goals, materials needed, time estimates, directions, and processing questions and includes adaptation and potential concerns. Introductory chapters, written by national experts including Rebecca Schumacher and Carolyn Stone, highlight the importance of working with teachers and the legal and ethical issues relevant to classroom guidance. Other chapters focus on integrating classroom guidance with RTI, character education, and antibullying efforts. This is the fifth book in the popular Association for Specialists in Group Work Activity Book Series.
