The South Carolina Trade Examinations for trade and industrial education teachers are administered semiannually by the Office of Vocational Education. This handbook is designed to provide prospective trade and industrial education teachers, vocational administrators, State Department of Education personnel, and other interested parties with information specific to the trade examinations. The first part of the handbook contains the following information: introduction, South Carolina trade and industrial education Trade Examination Areas and codes for trades and industries certification, purpose of trade examinations, eligibility for taking trade examinations, examination fees, application for trade examinations, examination dates, procedures for administration, grading of trade examinations, notification of grades, and retaking the trade examination. The second part of the guide contains information sheets for the following trade examinations: agricultural mechanics, air conditioning and refrigeration, appliance repair, auto body and fender, auto mechanics, brick masonry, building construction (carpentry), business machine repair, cabinetmaking, commercial art, commercial cooking, data processing, diesel engine mechanics, drafting, electricity, electronics, graphic communications, heavy equipment mechanic, industrial maintenance mechanics, industrial sewing, machine shop, marine engine repair, painting and decorating, plumbing, radio and television repair, sheet metal, shoe repair, small engine repair, tailoring, textiles, and welding. Each information sheet describes the practical and the theory trade examination and provides sample questions with answers. (KC)
