Three Learning Styles ... Four Steps to Reach Them
Mixon, Kevin
Teaching Music, v11 n4 p48 Feb 2004
Some band teachers wonder why they often have to repeat themselves several times for their band students. Of course there may be more than one reason, but it is possible that some teachers are accommodating only one learning style with their teaching. After the author of this article did a bit of study, he thought this might have been happening to him. He now uses a teaching sequence in band rehearsals and lessons that maximizes his teaching effectiveness by accommodating the auditory, visual, and tactile/kinesthetic learners in his classes. In this article he explains these three learning styles along with the teaching sequence.
