The Mass Media of the German-Speaking Countries.
Sandford, John
The aim of this book is to provide an introduction to the history and present organization of newspapers, magazines, radio, and television in East and West Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. The first four chapters discuss West Germany; the last three cover Austria, Switzerland, and East Germany. Comparisons are made not only between the four German-speaking countries, but also between their media and those of the English-speaking world. An appendix of representative newspapers and magazines is included, as well as a bibliography and glossary of German words used in the text. (CC)
