Psychometric Properties of the Parent Stress Index in a Sample of Low-Income African-American Mothers of Infants and Toddlers.
Hutcheson, Jacqueline; Black, Maureen
Early Education and Development, v7 n4 p381-400 Oct 1996
Examined psychometric properties of Parenting Stress Index. Subjects were 191 low-income, urban African American mothers. Found acceptable subscale internal consistency and stability over six months. Concurrent validity revealed high convergence across measures among mothers reporting consistent stress. Subjects reported elevated stress levels in comparison to normative group on three parent subscales and all child subscales. (KDFB)
