Gorton, Carolyn
This package of instructional materials is intended for use in preparing single parents and displaced homemakers for entry into the job market. The materials were developed for the ENCORE program--a 4-week, 48-hour, 3-days-per-week program focusing on employability skills, vocational assessment, personal development, shadowing in traditional and nontraditional careers, and field instruction. The package includes an overview of the ENCORE program, a description of a study of the characteristics and educational needs of the ENCORE clientele, recommendations that were developed on the basis of the study, and 53 attachments that are intended for use in replicating the program. The following are among the materials attached to the project report: ENCORE brochure; list of pertinent community-based organizations; participant information form; class list; class schedule; employability skills pretest; learning activities and educational games on a variety of topics related to job search, vocational adjustment, and career advancement; handouts dealing with such topics as job search, fringe benefits, career goals, average salaries, and personal resumes; sample thank you, job refusal, and job resignation letters; various sample forms, including performance evaluation, attendance history, and child-care invoice forms; three-month and one-year follow-ups of ENCORE graduates, and the agenda from a workshop for displaced homemakers.
