The Effect of Scientific Process Skills Education on Students' Scientific Creativity, Science Attitudes and Academic Achievements

The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of teaching scientific process skills education to students to promote their scientific creativity, attitudes towards science, and achievements in science. The research includes a pre-test post-test research model with a control group. The subjects of the research consist of 40 students reading at 7th grade of an elementary school existing in Buca District of Izmir Province, Turkey. The data collection tools for the research include the "Combination of Force and Motion--the Energy," Chapter Achievement Scale, the Science Attitude Scale, and the Scientific Creativity Scale. (Hu & Adey, 2002). As a result of the research, it was determined that the scientific process skills education increased the students' achievements and scientific creativities, however, no meaningful progress was made on their attitudes towards science when compared to the teacher-centered method.
