Learner's Guide: Water Quality Monitoring. An Instructional Guide for the Two-Year Water Quality Monitoring Curriculum.
Glazer, Richard B.; And Others
This learner's guide is designed to meet the training needs for technicians involved in monitoring activities related to the Federal Water Pollution Act and the Safe Drinking Water Act. In addition it will assist technicians in learning how to perform process control laboratory procedures for drinking water and wastewater treatment plant operations, as well as those tests, analyses, and procedures required by local, state, and federal regulatory agencies. Contained in the guide are nine courses, comprising 93 instructional modules. The complete curriculum can be taken in two years. The sequence in which the courses should be taken is given. However, each course is independent of the others and a variety of instructional pathways is possible for training technicians to do specific tasks. Each instructional unit gives the purpose, prerequisites, resources, objectives, conditions, and expected performance level. Included in the guide are units on: autoclaves, biochemical oxygen demand, functions of wastewater treatment processes, grit analysis, gas chromatography, and sampling routines. (BB)
