This vocational education safety standards plan outlines rules and regulations adopted by the Board of Education of Middlesex County Vocational and Technical High Schools. The first of eleven chapters presents demographics and a safety organization table for Middlesex County Vocational and Technical Schools. In chapter 2, six safety program objectives are stated; three objectives involve meeting safety standards with proper tools, machines, equipment, and personal protective devices. Chapter 3 states the Board of Education's policies for safe operation of vocational courses. Chapter 4 gives specific statements on safety practices and precautions. The fifth chapter presents plans for periodic inspections and maintenance of facilities and equipment. In chapter 6 plans for identification and elimination of potential hazards are outlined. Chapter 7 delineates emergency procedures to be followed in the event of an accident involving a student, teacher, or any other individual. Chapters 8 and 9 recommend methods for providing and assessing students' safety education. The safety budget is presented in chapter 10. The final chapter lists resource materials. Thirty-four samples, such as a shop safety survey, are interspersed throughout the text. Appendixes contain the New Jersey Administrative Code, Title 6, Chapter 43, and information on the Vocational Education Accident Reporting System. (CSS)
