Bryant, Rhonda M.; Coker, Angela D.; Durodoye, Beth A.; McCollum, Vivian J.; Pack-Brown, Sherlon P.; Constantine, Madonna G.; O'Bryant, Beverly J.
Journal of Counseling & Development, v83 n3 p313 Sum 2005
This article presents the voices of seven African American female counselor educators. The authors, having formally and informally collaborated in multiple settings over the past few years, decided to illuminate the challenges and successes of African American female counselor educators to add another dimension to our profession's discussion on multiculturalism and diversity. Their work has culminated in the identification of themes that they believe are unique to Black women. These themes influence their personal and professional lives. This treatise provides a unique opportunity for professional discussion regarding the status of African American women as a diverse group and their innumerable contributions to the counseling profession.
