Fallek, Max
This collection of case studies is intended for use in a course in setting up a small business. The first, a case study of the process of setting up a service company, covers analyzing the pros and cons of starting one's own business, assessing the competition and local market, and selecting a site for and financing the business. The principal advantages and disadvantages of starting a small business, market and trade area analysis, types of business organization, facility and equipment requirements, and methods of obtaining financing are addressed in the case study of setting up a manufacturing firm. The third case study, which deals with establishing a retailing firm, covers the steps involved in deciding whether or not to establish a small business, market and trade area analysis, operations, finance, competition, and methods of determining the numbers and types of employees that will be needed.
