The purpose of this lesson plan is to introduce the importance of social media and the Internet on public relations and marketing. The lesson describes the new rules for public relations versus the old rules. It is a more in depth look at how, and why, to use blogging, social media, and the Internet for promoting a company and appealing to buyers. The lesson also contains a section on news releases and the continued importance of them, and the new way to use them. Lesson includes an icebreaker activity, a pretest for measuring knowledge, a needs analysis, PowerPoint presentation slides, and assignment examples for applying knowledge. Lesson plan is adaptable to each class.
