A Comparison of Biologic Content in Three Elementary-School Science Curriculum Projects: ESS, S-APA, SCIS
Simpson, Ronald D.
American Biology Teacher, 36, 6, 340-343, Sep 74
Three elementary school science curriculum projects, Elementary Science Study (ESS), Science - A Process Approach (S-APA), and Science Curriculum Improvement Study (SCIS), are compared concerning the biologic content each project contains. The reviewer found a lack of activities designed to represent functions at the cellular level. Two projects (ESS and S-APA) thoroughly cover organismic functions in life while SCIS emphasizes ecologic principles. (PEB)
