The bibliography about search and rescue training materials lists booklets, books, manuals, films, papers, periodicals, and pamphlets that treat many aspects of search and rescue situations: general, cave, disaster, and mountain rescues; strategy tactics; communications; knots and ropes; outdoor living; dogs; tracking; map and compass; survival; physical fitness; cybernetics; commissary/mass feeding; training manuals; winter and water search and rescue; avalanches; scuba; boating; aviation; medical considerations; and first aid. For each of the approximately 400 items included, the bibliography lists the title, author, number of pages, size, and publication information. For films, the bibliography includes the film distributor, film number, name, and, sometimes, the length of the film. Many of the entries are annotated. The bibliography also gives information about 30 search and rescue schools, commercial sources of search and rescue equipment, sources of government materials, and names and addresses of experts in the field.
