In keeping with Bunker Hill (Massachusetts) Community College's (BHCC's) commitment to developing and maintaining effective working relationships with the many communities in its service region, important elements of the college's outreach efforts continue to be programs and services developed in cooperation with the public schools. Examples of BHCC's partnerships include the following: (1) joint sponsorship with Charlestown High School of a learning center, graphic design program, and Career Beginnings demonstration project designed to mitigate rising dropout rates among urban youth; (2) the BHCC/Mystic Valley Regional Collaborative, focusing on curriculum development in elementary science, application of media technology to curriculum development, and career awareness for high school students; (3) articulation efforts in computer science technology, electrical/electronic technology, graphic arts, business/office education, health technologies, and culinary arts as well as a "College Liaison" English as a Second Language program with two Cambridge public schools; and (4) a collaborative planning project involving BHCC, Roxbury Community College, and the Humphrey Occupational Resource Center in the exploration of potential areas of articulation.
