The Civil Classroom in the Age of the Net
Forni, P. M.
Thought & Action, p15-22 Fall 2008
This article discusses a growing problem with civility and relationships between college professors and students. There is a recognition that these relationships are fraught with tension, and it is becoming clear that the massive presence of the "Net" in college students' lives is contributing to that tension. By casting a glance at why and how that happens, this article offers suggestions to coping and surviving. The author encourages examining what being a teacher and a student entails, and working on the important task of what being human is in the age of the "Net."
