Examines the private sector's financial and philosophical contributions to the New Labour Party's Education Action Zone policy, based on interview data from 34 EAZ directors. Far from representing a flagship, "third-way" reform, the average zone resembles a traditional school-improvement service combined with an education-business partnership. (Contains 19 references.)
