The historical and descriptive data provided in this report offer an overview of enrollments and finances in the community colleges of Maryland. Section 1 reviews enrollments in postsecondary education between 1955 and 1982, percentages of residents enrolled in colleges by city or county, birth rates between 1961 and 1981, and actual and projected figures on high school graduates from 1979 to 1991. Section 2 includes credit enrollment data by college, student status, race, and residence; statistics on full-time equivalent (FTE) enrollments and changes between 1978 and 1982; and continuing education registrations and enrollments for 1982. Section 3 covers revenues and expenditures, including the cost of administering state aid to the community colleges; sources of current revenue; expenditures by function, object, and per FTE student; percentage distribution of operating expenses; and sources and distribution of restricted and unrestricted revenues for 1982. Section 4 lists degrees and certificates awarded by Maryland community colleges between 1978 and 1982 by college, types of award, and program area. After section 5 provides a breakdown of academic and administrative salaries and benefits (e.g., medical and life insurance and sabbatical, annual, and sick leaves), section 6 presents data on physical facilities including land, equipment, and building assets, and the organization of the State Board for Community Colleges.
