Environmental Horticulture. Florida Vocational Program Guide.

This vocational program guide is intended to assist in the organization, operation, and evaluation of a program in environmental horticulture in school districts, area vocational centers, and community colleges. The following topics are covered: program content and structure (job titles and curriculum framework and student performance standards); facilities (design criteria, shop and laboratory, suggested equipment and supplies, classroom, and safety); program implementation (agriculture enhancement teaching-learning plans, student learning guide, and student organization participation); professional considerations (teacher certification and professional organizations and support services); and instructional resources (sources of print and audiovisual materials and software and teacher-recommended materials). Sample teaching-learning plans, a sample student learning guide, and sample related math exercises for environmental horticulture are appended. A Career Merit Achievement Plan (Career MAP) for use in recording the progress of students enrolled in a environmental horticulture program is packaged with the program guide. Included in the Career MAP are a list of relevant job titles, overview of the MAP and directions for using it, guidelines for rating student performance standards, and charts detailing the various subcompetencies of the environmental horticulture skills and work environment readiness skills covered in the environmental horticulture program.
