This paper reports a small naturalistic study of how affluent American children (mostly aged 11 and 12) reacted to Operation Desert Storm as depicted on television. Interviews indicated the war had a deep impact on many children, with children empathizing with the wounded but proud of being Americans and resenting the invasion of injured people's privacy. (DB)
