Contextual Variability in Young Children's Gender Ingroup Stereotype.
Sani, Fabio; Bennett, Mark
Social Development, v10 n2 p221-29 2001
Investigated stereotype variability among 6- and 7-year-olds. In the first condition, an outgroup was represented by adult men for boy participants, and adult women for girls; in the second, the outgroup was defined as opposite sex peers. Participants' descriptions showed that stereotypical traits attributed to the in-group change significantly with changes in the frame of reference. (JPB)
