THE INDUSTRIAL TRAINING BOARDS' MAIN TASKS UNDER THE INDUSTRIAL TRAINING ACT ARE TO (1) ASSESS THE MANPOWER AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS OF EACH INDUSTRY (BASED ON FORECASTS OF GROWTH OR CONTRACTION OF INDUSTRY, TECHNICAL, DEMOGRAPHIC, AND EDUCATIONAL CHANGE, AND CHANGES IN THE LEVEL AND DIRECTION OF DEMAND FOR GOODS AND SERVICES), (2) DRAW UP RECOMMENDATIONS FOR TRAINING AND ASSOCIATED FURTHER EDUCATION COURSES (PRESCRIBING THE PARTICIPANTS, CONTENT, TEACHING METHODS, AND LENGTH OF TRAINING), (3) SEE THAT THESE RECOMMENDATIONS ARE PUT INTO EFFECT (BY EXAMINATION OF TRAINEE OR INSPECTION OF FIRMS' FACILITIES), AND (4) ENSURE THAT TRAINING SCHEMES REMAIN EFFECTIVE AND RELEVANT (THROUGH CONTINUOUS PROGRAM EVALUATION, RESEARCH, AND SYLLABUS REVIEW). PERSUADING MANAGEMENT OF THE IMPORTANCE OF TRAINING TO THE EFFICIENCY AND PROFITABILITY OF EACH FIRM AND INCREASING THE NUMBER OF TRAINING SPECIALISTS WILL BE KEYS TO A BOARD'S SUCCESS.
