Sonoma Developmental Curriculum: Instructional Programs. Volume II.
Adams, Patrick, Ed.; And Others
The guide presents instructional materials for teaching developmentally delayed children from birth to 6 years old. The following five instructional areas are covered (with sample activities in parentheses): gross motor (demonstrates a tonic-neck reflex, demonstrates ability to bear almost full weight, and crawls backward down three steps); fine motor (clenches fist on contact, folds and creases paper, and copies a circle); language development (turns head and maintains eye contact, brings object from another room, and names a missing object); social/emotional development (identifies self in photo, apologizes when appropriate, and raises hand for attention); self help skills in the areas of eating/drinking (uses a spoon), toileting (indicates by gesture when wet), washing/grooming (brushes teeth independently), dressing (removes underpants), and safety (demonstrates dialing own number). Each activity included in the instructional materials lists the target behavior, a performance objective, the materials needed, and suggestions for instruction. (PHR)
