A pre-test and introduction are provided. Part 1, career assessment, covers learning styles; occupational interests and aptitudes; how to relate interests and occupational areas; occupational careers and goals in various clusters; and educational and career goals. Part 2, workplace readiness skills, focuses on a personal data sheet; resume; job announcement sources; cover letter; application forms; job interviews; employment tests; work-related documents; appropriate job behaviors; company policies and procedures; and resignation procedures. Part 3, SCANS competencies, includes topics such as appropriate resource use; cooperative and productive teamwork; information usage; social, organizational, and technological systems; and tools and equipment. Each part consists of an overview listing topics covered, information on each topic, and activity/activities for students in the VPI lab. The document concludes with a post-test; a 14-item bibliography; list of 41 print and non-print resources; a Workplace Readiness Skills (VPI) Curriculum Framework; pre- and post-test answer keys; and samples.
