Blanchard, Bob; And Others
As an aid for curriculum development officers at the California community colleges, this monograph presents course outlines for a model Administration of Justice curriculum. After introductory material describing the history of the curriculum development project that resulted in the creation of the model, the monograph presents descriptive outlines for five core courses: Introduction to the Administration of Justice, Principles and Procedures of the Justice System, Concepts of Criminal Law, Legal Aspects of Evidence, and Community Relations. Next, 15 elective courses are outlined: Substantive Law, Concepts of Enforcement Services, Principles of Investigation, Crime Scene and Laboratory Techniques, Fundamentals of Crime and Delinquency, Institutional Field Services, Criminal Justice Interviewing and Counseling, Judicial Process in California, Principles and Practices in Civil Process, Court Administrative Services, Court Enforcement Principles, Security Services System, Business and Retail Security, and Industrial Security. Each outline contains a brief course description and indicates the length of the course, course goals, general performance objectives, the scope of course content, instructional and evaluation methods to be used, minimum standards of achievement, and selected readings. An executive report summarizing the activities of the curriculum update project is attached. (JP)
