To improve communications between health occupations educators and health professionals about developments in health occupations education, a compilation of 21 approaches used in health occupations education is presented. Outlines of the 21 different courses are presented, grouped in eight areas: (1) career mobility--modified LPN program for employed nurse aides, modified LPN program for nurse aides employed in multiple sites, three-level approach to practical nursing, LPN/ADN transition program, statewide vertical mobility in nursing, articulated program in nursing, and statewide career mobility guide; (2) continuing education--coronary care nursing for practical nurses; (3) core content--core courses for the dental area, interdisciplinary core courses and integrated science curriculum for multiple health careers; (4) developmental education--practical nurse summer study skills program; (5) general education adapted for health careers--biomedical interdisciplinary curriculum project and health careers techniques and applications of chemistry; (6) individualized instruction--individualized instruction in an adult nurse aide program and programed materials in a nurse aide course; (7) secondary school programs--secondary medical laboratory assistant program, high school practical nursing, and learning and volunteering; and (8) teacher training--teachers for health agency nurse aide programs.
