An Integrated Curriculum for Chronic Disruptive Youth.

Materials contained in this manual and curriculum guide provide educational coordinators with theoretical and operational information on how to carry out the integrated curriculum designed to facilitate improved instructional and career programming for students in residential settings. Chapter 1, Career Education for Chronically Disruptive Youth, outlines the behavioral needs of disruptive adolescent boys and girls, effective educational strategies, and programmatic directions. Chapter 2, Ascertaining Vocationally Related Behaviors, spells out types of diagnostic instruments that can be used with such youth, including academic and vocational aptitude tests, and how they are to be used. Chapter 3, Establishing a Meaningful Career Education Plan, reviews the implementation and operation of job and work stations, and career centers. Chapter 4, An Integrated Curriculum and Its Implications for Chronic Disruptive Youth, discusses how integration of programmatic goals, the diagnostic process, and the work stations enables the youth to establish and realize lifelong career goals. Chapter 5, Job Coaching, outlines the responsibilities of the job coach, who insures the employment success of youth leaving the residential centers. The second half of the manual consists of the integrated curriculum guide of course outlines for teachers, counselors, coordinators, and job coaches of chronic-disruptive youth in the areas of science, health and safety, mathematics, language arts, and social studies.
