This book discusses the theory and practice of information literacy instruction. Part I provides background, including the definition and history of information literacy instruction. Part II covers information literacy instruction building blocks, including: a brief introduction to learning theory; an overview of learning styles; library anxiety, mental models, and conceptual frameworks; and critical thinking and active learning. Part III addresses planning and developing information literacy instruction, including: program planning; selecting modes of instruction; the instructional menu; basic copyright and design issues; designing instructional modes and materials; and assessing, evaluating, and revising information literacy instruction programs.
