The Internet Resource Directory for K-12 Teachers and Librarians. 2000/2001 Edition.
Miller, Elizabeth B.
This directory presents a broad sampling of some of the best Internet resources for educators, school library media specialists, students, and parents. The 2000/2001 edition is the seventh in a series of annual publications. With 1,515 entries, this edition has 440 new and updated entries. The directory is divided into 11 chapters, each addressing a different area of the K-12 curriculum (1) "Resources for Educators"; (2) "The Arts: Visual Art, Dance, Music, and Theater"; (3)"Computer Science"; (4) "Foreign Language studies and Cultural Appreciation"; (5) "Language Arts"; (6) "Mathematics"; (7) "Science"; (8)"Applied Arts and Sciences: Vocational Education, Driver's Education, Family Life Education, Health & Safety, Horticulture, Physical Education, Sport Sciences, and Sports"; (9) "Social Studies and Geography"; (10) "Reference"; and (11) "The School Library: The School Information Resource Center." Two chapters, "Resources for Educators" and "The School Library: The School Information Resource Center," contain professional information as well as lesson plans and general information specific to education, K-12 schools, and the school library media center. The "Reference" chapter focuses on resources that can be used across the curriculum. Clear directions for access are given for each resource. There is an entry name for each resource; notes on how it accessed; and the URL, address, path, login, or other instructions. When available, the name of a contact person associated with the resource is given. Following the basic citation is a descriptive annotation, which includes an overview of the resource and, in some cases, a brief list of some of the contents. Within each section of the book, entries are listed alphabetically by entry name, with one exception. If standards are available, the standard is listed first with alphabetical entries following. Includes site and subject indexes. (Further updates can be found on the Libraries Unlimited Web site.) (AEF)
