Arts and Entertainment Career Conference. Walt Disney Studios. Final Project Performance Report, July 31, 1978-July 31, 1979.
Walt Disney Productions, Anaheim, CA.
The intention of a project was (1) to encourage college and university deans and heads of performing arts departments to hold an Arts and Entertainment Career Seminar on their own compus for faculty and performing arts majors and (2) to provide these institutions with written and visual materials for such a seminar. Two conferences were held, one at Walt Disney World (July 31-August 2, 1978) and one at Disneyland (August 7-9, 1978) on the Arts and Entertainment in conjunction with Walt Disney Productions' Entertainment Work Experience Program. Programs centered on introducing 110 leaders in arts education to the realities of career opportunities in the entertainment sector. Presentation and panel discussion emphasized the pre-professional level, the career-entry level, and the seasoned professional. A videotape and pamphlet, intended as a handbook for conducting a seminar, were also produced and disseminated. (The pamphlet is available as CE 024 811.) Project evaluation involved measuring the change of attitude of the arts administrators by a pre/posttest. Data showed no significant change, but action plans submitted by administrators and further data on plan implementation showed the conference had had a postive impact. (Appendixes include evaluation instruments and outcomes.) (YLB)
