This book describes the teaching of reading in Denmark. Topics discussed are the holistic educational approach to reading (essentially an eclectic reading method), reading instruction techniques used from kindergarten through high school, remedial instruction, individualization, and speed reading. An individualized speed reading method for adults and a survey of reading problems as described by students are also described. Appendixes include information about the Danish sytem of education and language, information about books and libraries in Denmark, content analysis of children's books and educational materials, and descriptions of national television programs in reading instruction.
