Concerned with the north-central area of New Mexico (Rio Arriba, Taos, Colfax, Mora, Santa Fe, and San Miguel counties), this inventory describes the situation and delineation of the region, the natural resources (physical characteristics, land, land-ownership patterns, land-use patterns, land-title problems, water resources, and minerals); human resources (regional demography, ethnic groups, education, income distribution and unemployment, and occupational profiles); and social overhead capital (educational services, health services, other public services, communications, and recreation). Each of the foregoing is discussed in terms of relevance to the state and its people and possible ramifications in view of influences from within and without New Mexico.
