Resilience (Psychology)

The capacity of individuals to withstand, cope with, or recover from adverse, stressful, or high-risk circumstances. Protective factors that enhance this ability may be internal (personal attributes such as self efficacy, spirituality, etc.) or external (e.g., relationships such as supportive family or community ties). From 2004-2010, this concept was indexed with the Descriptor "Personality Traits."
