This document contains the materials necessary to teach four instructional units on welding that are designed to prepare learners for entry-level employment. The following instructional units are presented: (1) welding materials; (2) welding tools; (3) welding layout and basic skills; and (4) oxyacetylene cutting. The document begins with a copy of the Introduction to Welding Competency Profile, on which the trainee's progress toward meeting instructional objectives can be recorded. A short chapter that explains how the document should be used precedes the instructional materials. Instructional materials for each unit include some or all of the following elements: (1) performance objectives; (2) suggested activities; (3) "must know" content, essential for meeting the cognitive objectives of the unit; (4) job sheets; (5) tests; (6) answers to tests; and (7) transparency masters.
