Developments in Teaching Education Management. Study Conference 75/23A. Coombe Lodge Report Vol 8 No 10.
Andrews, Philippa, Ed.
This conference brought together a wide range of staff interested in the teaching of educational management. The contributing lecturers were chosen to highlight problems of management rather than of teaching. Lord Morris of Grasmere delineated the market need while J. M. Fearn outlined the Scottish system from the perspective of central government. F. Tye examined management problems in the schools. Dr. M. Shipman gave an exposition on what the research indicates about the role of teachers as part of the policy determining team. Two projects--one to identify the particular training needs of practising managers of education, the other to explore alternative avenues in the teaching of educational management and to identify those most appropriate under present conditions--were described and discussed.
