Recharging Our Sense of Idealism: Concluding Thoughts
D'Andrea, Michael; Dollarhide, Colette T.
Journal of Humanistic Counseling, v50 n2 p220-221 Fall 2011
In this article, the authors aim to recharge one's sense of idealism. They argue that idealism is the Vitamin C that sustains one's commitment to implementing humanistic principles and social justice practices in the work of counselors and educators. The idealism that characterizes counselors and educators who are humanistic and social justice oriented will predictably be challenged by cynical persons in the lay public as well as other colleagues and students in their field.
