Some Research and Clinical Perspectives on Adolescent Sexuality.
Chilman, Catherine S.
This paper selects and emphasizes some of the concepts and findings to be found in the author's book, Adolescent Sexuality in a Changing Society. This paper limits itself to various aspects of premarital intercourse among adolescents, including the personality traits of virgins and non-virgins, and the effects of education upon sexual attitudes. The author concludes that the specifically social and psychological research about adolescent sexual behavior needs more attention and considerable improvement in both theory and method. In addition she thinks that two types of studies are needed: formal studies of groups and intensive clinical studies of individuals. (Author)
