An Interview with AIDS Vaccine Researcher Chris Parks
Sullivan, Megan
Science Teacher, v77 n3 p72-73 Mar 2010
The search for an AIDS (acquired immune deficiency syndrome) vaccine is truly a global effort, with university laboratories, biotech firms, pharmaceutical companies, nonprofit research organizations, hospitals, and clinics all working together to develop an effective vaccine as quickly as possible. The International AIDS Vaccine Initiative (IAVI) is one organization working to ensure the development of a safe, effective, accessible, and preventive HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) vaccine for use throughout the world. As senior director of vaccine vector design at IAVI, AIDS vaccine researcher Chris Parks works to create HIV vaccine candidates.
