Arizona Commission of Indian Affairs, Phoenix.
Designed to provide insight into the proceedings, transactions, and findings of the Arizona Commission of Indian Affairs, this 1981-82 annual report reflects the Commission's efforts to improve communications, understanding and working relationships between tribes and state government to provide tribes with technical assistance. The report describes 22 projects completed during the year and lists 19 instances of technical assistance provided, as well as 3 publications, including a Tribal Directory. Named as highlights of the year are the commission appointments, the ninth Annual Indian Town Hall Conference on Indian self-determination and barriers to realization, the Commission's economic development business center proposal, and block grant program for Indian tribes. A financial report details allocation of the $124,000 1981-82 total appropriations. A profile of the Havasupai Tribe summarizes its historical background, culture, tribal government, tribal administration, community needs and concerns, economic development, employment and training, education, human resources, and health and social services. The report includes the Commission membership, a map locating Arizona Indian reservations, reservation population and acreage statistics, and commission meeting attendance records. (ERB)
