An Excerpt from: Physical Educators' Guide to Successful Grant Writing by Louis Bowers
Strategies: A Journal for Physical and Sport Educators, v18 n5 p26-27 May-Jun 2005
This article presents an excerpt from Louis Bowers' "Physical Educators' Guide to Successful Grant Writing." The focus of the excerpt is on understanding the grant process. Bowers tells readers there are thousands of agencies that provide funding to nonprofit organizations. The challenge is to identify the funding competition that is most appropriate for a specific project. Most funding sources fall into one of three categories: foundations, which may be community, private, corporate, or all professional sources, which may be business, industry, or professional interest groups; or government, which is local, state, or federal. Each of these categories are discussed in this excerpt.
